Critic runs Jimmy Cowan Out of Town
Gus Gawn’s ear that Jimmy Cowan’s days as a Highlander are numbered. Our source
has stated that Cowan will quit New Zealand at the end of the 2012 season to take up
a contract with English club Gloucester.
The Guardian newspaper in the UK is reporting that Cowan is in talks with the
English club who want to sign the All Blacks and Highlanders halfback. However
Critic’s source has stated that this is a done deal and Cowan will be long gone once
the season ends.
The source also implied that the Highlanders are so unhappy with how the whole deal has gone down that they vindictively benched Cowan earlier in the season so that his impending 100th Super Rugby match could not be played in his beloved Invercargill.
Critic wouldn’t really mind if Jimmy Cowan just packed his boots and left after
practice tomorrow. Critic’s favourite Highlander Aaron Smith is a world-class
number 9 with his best years ahead of him. This year Cowan has been nothing more than over-rated, overpaid backup.
Cowan’s agent and the Highlanders were unavailable for comment.
