This year’s Fresher Comp winner is one Jacqui Gale, an 18-year-old Health Sci student currently residing at UniCol. Gale saw off her competitors in a week that involved karaoke, fire-eating, and abseiling down the side of the Chemistry Building.

 
The final event involved an offal eat-off, with Gale emerging a comfortable winner, a victory she credits to not wanting to miss her Health Sci lecture that was starting ten minutes later. She says that throughout the week luck had played a major part in her victory; indeed, her very taking part in the event had been down to chance. Upon receiving her Orientation sign-up letter Gale was so excited that she went through and ticked every box, determined not to miss out on anything.
 
For her win Gale received a prize-pack that included a Nintendo Wii and four crates of Mountain Dew, a drink Gale professes to be unable to stand. Residents of Gale’s UniCol floor are expected to be flush with the slightly underwhelming soft-drink for the foreseeable future.
