7 Days Live

Interview with Josh Thomson and Jeremy Elwood

Without the restrictions of the TV cameras and the censors, the 7 Days team are presenting the live show at the Regent Theatre tonight. Be there to see what happens when the cameras aren't rolling!
Critic asked Josh Thomson and Jeremy Elwood some of life’s big questions to get a feel for tonight's show.

How do you feel about your visit to Dunedin?

Josh Thomson: I'm really excited about it. The last time I was in Dunedin I saw a guy wet himself whilst standing up on George St. It was about 11am on a Monday so I'm hoping Saturday will offer up even more compelling imagery.

Jeremy Elwood: I grew up in Dunedin, so I like coming back. Hopefully I'll have time to catch up with some folks, but it's more likely I'll just have to try and spot them in the crowd.

If you lived on Castle Street what would your flat be called?

Josh Thomson: Hammer and Tongan. I'd have to find a guy who looked like a hammer to move in with me though. Or a girl. I'd prefer a dude though. Girls who look like hammers tend to be high maintenance.

Jeremy Elwood: Help I'm Not A Student, Get Me Out Of Here.

What do you think Gigatown will mean for Dunedin?

Josh Thomson: The students aren't allowed to look at pornography as it is. Just knowing that you have the potential to look at so much porn, so fast, at such an incredibly high resolution, it's just cruel. You should be ashamed for taunting the students like that. No wonder they burn couches.

Jeremy Elwood: The ability to procrastinate online, faster.

What's your pick for the NZ flag?

Josh Thomson: A cheese roll being eaten by me. I'm using the flag as a napkin. There's a bunch of girls watching me and telling me off. None of these girls look like hammers.

Jeremy Elwood: A silver dollar sign on a black background, signifying what a colossal waste of money the whole issue is.

What advice would you give to aspiring comedians in Dunedin?

Josh Thomson: Keep writing new jokes. Also, make sure they are funny. You can judge this by whether people laugh or not.

Jeremy Elwood: Just get as much stage time, in as many different environments as you can. You can only get better by giving yourself the opportunity to fail.

What can people expect from 7 Days Live when you get here?

Josh Thomson: You get to see ideas spawn and grow into a rollercoaster of fun. In the TV show they just cut to the bit at the end which is good, but sometimes the ride along the way can be way more interesting and rewarding. You'll also get to see my nipples so there is something for everyone.

Jeremy Elwood: A mini stand up gala followed by a no holds barred version of the TV show. Strap in, it's a great night.
