Tsunami relief effort on campus

October 02, 2009 09:28

OUSA and various aid agencies are doing their bit to help out in the wake of the devastating Pacific earthquakes and tsunami earlier this week.

Check out Monday's Critic for coverage on how the tragedy has affected the University community. In the meantime, we've compiled a list on how you can help.

OUSA INITIATIVES ON CAMPUS:
- There will be a BBQ today (Friday), and on Monday and Tuesday between 12-2pm on the Union Lawn. There are sausages for a gold coin (or bigger) donation.

- There is a clothing and blanket appeal with wheelie bins at OUSA's main office. (However, OUSA is asking that you wait until they can confirm that they can get the clothing to where it is most needed in Samoa).

- The Networking 101 happy hour will be a fundraising event next Thursday (October 8). All drinks sales will go to the cause.

- Donation boxes will soon be at Unipol, Clubs and Societies, Main Office, and Student Support. (But just at OUSA main office for now)

AID AGENCIES:
- The New Zealand Red Cross' Samoa tsunami relief project (www.givealittle.co.nz);

- Oxfam NZ's rapid response emergency fund (www.oxfam.org.nz, 0800 400 666, or automatic $20 donations on 0900 600 20);
